About this tool
Prompt anonymizer swaps the real names, emails, numbers and other details in your text for stand-ins, so you can ask an AI for help without sharing them. Paste the AI’s reply into the Anonymized box, and the Original box shows it with the real values back in.
- Pairs are the swaps you choose. Double-click a word in your text to add one.
- Emails, phone numbers, addresses, IDs, keys and the like are swapped automatically. So are names it doesn’t know yet, unless you turn off Auto swap to review them first.
- Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere. Your pairs are saved in this browser only; Export and Import move them.
- It’s rules-based: patterns and word lists, no AI. It can miss things, so read the anonymized text before you send it.
About me
I’m Zack. I built this to help me with work emails. AI chat tools are a great help, but you want to keep things private, especially when you handle sensitive information in a regulated environment.
It started as a simple page with three CodeMirror editor windows: input, output, and a fixed list of pairs in plain text (still here, as Edit as text). It improved over time, and Claude helped on many fronts.
You can download this page and run it on your own computer. It’s a single file.
